You WILL fail, many times. And you will become your best self because of it, not in spite of it.
- Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first television job. THE OPRAH…fired!
- Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor because he "lacked imagination and had no good ideas." Walt F*CKING Disney lacked imagination!?!
- And J.K. Rowling was a single mom living off welfare when she began writing the first "Harry Potter" novel. She received 12 rejection letters before the book was published. TWELVE.
People fail, it’s human. There’s no getting around it, friends. We all screw up more times than we’d like to admit. It’s embarrassing and it sucks. At some point, you will make mistakes so trivial that you’ll question your own intelligence. You’ll also make mistakes so heavy that they’ll bring you to your knees in disbelief and remorse. Honor each and every one of them.
Here’s the thing: failure isn’t a permanent f*ck up. By failing, you succeed. You become bigger, better, stronger and more flexible. You are able to ebb and flow with whatever the universe has to offer up at any moment. Failure is our greatest teacher as long as we don't permanently surrender to it. Take risks. Fail. Often. And then fail again. Through experience with failure, you learn incredibly important lessons. You learn how strong you truly are. You begin to understand the depth of your own possibility and beyond that, failure teaches us that we can overcome just about anything.
You will fail. And you will be OK. You will fail again and you’ll be even stronger. You will keep failing and I hope you do because each time, you will grow more than you ever thought possible. Through these failures, you will become your own greatest success story. You’ve got this, friends. Get out there and f*ck some stuff up! xx
